It is violent, yes, but not gratuitously so, at least in my memory.
(p.s. "I've also made pizza.")
Dude, you remember that? Did you OD like me back then?
Bob,I was a little surprised at the violence in "In Bruges". It's not pervasive nor gratuitous considering the movie is about killers, but the movie had more violence and more graphic violence than I had expected. So I'd describe it as travelogue with whimsical comedy punctuated by some gruesome scenes. I'm not sure, for example, if RJ would like it.
Oh ya, RJ's tolerance is lower than mine, and from your description, this one's probably not for me.
Spelling, I put up a new title just for you!
You might want to keep soliciting the advice of other friends. If I haven't already, I meant to recommend the movie to you. :) It made me remember traveling (I saw it the summer I came back from abroad) and want to go to Bruges at some point. I hadn't thought of the violence as a factor until your post.I think I was ignorantly expecting a better version of "Grosse Pointe Blank" with similar depictions of violence (more like "Blues Brothers"). So I remembered it for going against that expectation.
After thinking about it a bit more, I think it is too violent.>"new title"I must have missed it or am not getting the reference.
Oh, same album as "I've also made pizza." The kid? With his mom?
Spelling, now I'm questioning myself. Those two quotes may not be from the same album. Anyone who got "I've also made pizza" would also remember the orange juice sketch if they were on the same album. My memory may be faulty: I could be confusing two albums as one.
Okay, I just looked it up. They are the same album. Of course I assume that everyone will remember the same things I remember, but that's just silly. Still, I got a little tickle in my spine when you wrote "I've also made pizza," because I don't run into many people who remember "especially when you be liftin' pianos, man..." And there was the squalor show on that album too, and the bit with the gymnastics commentators, and goodness I could go on. Good times. And now that I know you were into that album, be prepared for me to annoy you with quotes when I actually see you in person. This behavior will last as long as we know each other. Mwa ha ha, etc.
